Tip Sheet: 5 Steps to Build an SMB Tech Plan

5 Steps to Build an SMB Technology Plan

Every business needs a technology plan, yes, even small businesses. Just because you don't have someone in-house to manage your network, doesn't mean you don't need a set of policies, protocols, and a team to call when you need some guidance.

This tip sheet will help you create a technology plan for your small  business, walking you through the following steps:

1) Outline short and long-term business goals for your company

2) Audit and define the useful life of your existing IT infrastructure

3) Calculate a manageable IT budget to cover day-to-day support, proactive management of the network, and remediation capability for those after-hours hiccups.

4) Formulate a roadmap to technology adoption and replacement to ensure operational efficiencies.

5) Manage your business and budget to appropriately prepare for, and take advantage of, the rapid technology changes occurring around it.

It's similar to the process we use with our clients at MicroTech. We work with small business leaders to build a technology plan at the beginning of our engagement, and manage it, with regular care and feeding on their behalf.
